Designer spotlight: John Jacob

Good morning......Based in Cape Town, John Jacob Zwiegelaar set up his design firm in 2005. His glamorous style, known for the ultimate in bespoke design and with incredible attention to detail has taken him all over the globe. I love the way he layers rooms with so many interesting elements, it is impossible to look at one of his rooms at a quick glance and take it all in. You need to look at all the many elements of his rooms to understand the finished product, and the end result is always  beautifully executed.

It appears he is most comfortable working with a neutral palette...lots of creams, grays, tone on tone, and earthy colors punctuate his rooms. His favorite style is contemporary classic though his works run the span from Belgian influenced design to neoclassical. One thing is for sure he has developed a winning combination in his approach to interior design. His interiors are just exquisite as you will see in this parade of works by John Jacob.....could you possibly choose a favorite?

I would be hard pressed but a contender for sure would be the putty/gray colored dining room with the beautiful table setting.....I could see myself having a dinner party there quite easily, but then I love that black kitchen, and really could see having a cocktail party in the black and white living room and oh that neutral colored bedroom with the canopy bed is so dreamy, and that luxurious sumptuous bath....oh well...too many to name just one.Take a look and let me know what you think!

So what do you think of his rooms? I think he has great style and a beautifully trained eye at creating elegant, non fussy interiors that are soothing and so inviting. One of the important hallmarks to me, of good design is that you actually want to linger in the room, not admire it frorm afar....... each and every one of these spaces just feels so liveable yet incredibly elegant. So do you have a favorite room? Have an enchanting day!
